My Enriching Journey as an Administrative and Communications Intern at SEED

As my co-op term with SEED Nova Scotia comes to a close, I find myself reflecting on an incredible journey of growth, learning, and meaningful work. Joining SEED as an Administrative and Communications Coordinator during the start of Cohort 8, I was immediately immersed in the vibrant and impactful initiatives of this dynamic organization. From the very beginning, I felt privileged to contribute to SEED’s mission of empowering youth and fostering opportunities that make a real difference in their lives.

One of the highlights of my experience was witnessing firsthand the dedication and compassion of the Skills2SucSeed (S2S) team. Their tireless efforts to share SEED’s teachings with youth across Nova Scotia were truly inspiring. Being part of Cohort 8’s journey allowed me to see the positive transformations that happen when young individuals are provided with the right tools and guidance to succeed. Seeing their enthusiasm and growth reaffirmed the importance of the work we were doing, and it was deeply rewarding to play a part in this initiative.

A significant aspect of my role involved managing SEED’s communications, including creating and curating content for social media platforms. This opportunity allowed me to combine creativity with strategy, as I brainstormed ideas from scratch to develop posts that not only aligned with SEED’s branding but also engaged our audience effectively. I particularly enjoyed designing visually appealing and interactive posts for platforms like TikTok and Facebook, which helped increase engagement and amplify SEED’s message. The experience honed my skills in Canva, digital marketing, and analytics—tools that I will carry forward in my career.

Collaborating with team members such as Elle and Michelle was another highlight of my term. Their dedication to SEED’s mission and their openness to new ideas created an environment where I felt supported and encouraged to contribute meaningfully. Through this collaboration, I learned the importance of teamwork and effective communication in driving impactful outcomes.

My role also gave me the chance to interact directly with the youth participating in SEED’s programs. Hearing their stories and witnessing their resilience as they tackled life’s challenges was both humbling and inspiring. These interactions gave me a greater appreciation for the importance of youth empowerment programs and the profound impact organizations like SEED can have on communities.

Overall, my time at SEED Nova Scotia has been an incredibly enriching experience. It provided me with invaluable professional skills, meaningful connections, and the satisfaction of knowing that my contributions played a small part in helping youth succeed. As I move forward in my career, I will carry the lessons I’ve learned and remain grateful for the opportunity to be part of such impactful work.
