Youth Employability Program.

YEP is an employment support program for youth connected to the social assistance and child welfare systems. YEP reaches out to youth on an individual basis, meeting them in their communities and assisting them in achieving their career, employment and educational goals. With YEP's ongoing support, youth build upon the personal characteristics, skills, attitudes and resources they possess to create a bright future for themselves.

Who We Can Help

YEP is funded by the Department of Common Services and its target client base are youth ages 15-24 (inclusive), that are attached to the Social Assistance and Child Welfare System. Youth must be identified as:

  • A Recipient of income assistance

  • A Dependent living with a parent or guardian who receives income assistance

  • A Youth in the Care of a child welfare agency (i.e.:  foster care, residential facilities, etc).

  • Youth living in Public Housing

Participation with YEP is completely voluntary and dependent on the youths level of engagement.

connecting and engagement

YEP and the youth will meet regularly and remain connected as long as the youth requires support.

Meetings take place based on the needs and preferences of the youth.  Generally, we try to be in contact once every two weeks, and will meet the client in their community. YEP is also able to connect with clients virtually where needed.

Self and 3rd party referrals

Youth can self-refer, or be referred by service providers, guardians, teachers, social workers, etc

personal, flexible action plan

The action plan is flexible and adjustments are continually made to accommodate the youth’s ever changing life situation.  We strive to celebrate each client’s successes and use uncompleted tasks as an opportunity to teach the youth valuable life skills.
