Selena Doner
"I grew up on the treaty lands and traditional territory of the Anishnaabe peoples, covered by the Lake Simcoe-Nottawasaga Treaty No.18. From an early age, I was motivated by the idea of collective action towards a world where everyone has access to what they need to be successful by their own definition.
This led me to many opportunities in education and travel, as well as discovering my passion for supporting individuals in realizing and working towards their goals. My familial connection to the East Coast and deep love and respect for nature moved me to unceded Mi'kma'ki territory, where I have been developing a career in youth mentorship and employment support for the past 7 years.
As the EDGE Program's Job Developer, I am excited to bring my expertise with local employer connections, supportive career exploration and individualized employment mentorship. When it comes to navigating employment, the youth is the driver and I am happy to be a passenger, simply suggesting which turn they could take to reach their destination."
