What I Learned From My Co-op

As my Co-op with SEED ends, I have been thinking about what this journey has taught me. I have learned skills in communication, social media, youth, and what impact looks like. Stepping into a pristine environment filled with passion and purpose driven people, I learned that SEED is more than a workplace, it is a community.

During my time here, I had the opportunity to support the team, contribute to content creation, and engage in a workplace place that is impact driven. When developing social media posts, helping in initiatives or learning how SEED connects to the youth through its different programs, every task has helped me better understand the importance of support and encouragement in youth development.

One of the most valuable parts of this experience was seeing how creativity and purpose come together. I was encouraged to think critically and creatively, ask questions and approach my work with a youth-centred focus. SEED gave me the space to grow both personally and professionally, but also in how I see community impact and the role youth play in shaping the future.

As I move forward with my career, I will carry with me the lessons, skills, and perspectives I’ve gained from SEED. I am grateful for the support, mentorship and trust I was given throughout this position. This experience has left an impression on me, and I leave with a deeper appreciation for the work SEED does to support youth across Nova Scotia.

Thank you to everyone at SEED for making this co-op experience meaningful, welcoming, and inspiring.
