Free Things To Do This Summer
Emera Oval
The Emera Oval officially opens June 1 and is one of the best summer hangout spots in HRM. You can rent free skateboards, bikes, scooters, rollerblades, and helmets, making it a great place to spend time with friends outdoors. Learn more.
Halifax Public Gardens
Looking for a fun afternoon activity? The Halifax Public Gardens are perfect for picnics, reading, walking, or catching up with friends. They also offer free tours throughout the summer, including bird, horticultural, and historical tours. Learn more about the tours.
Maritime Museum of the Atlantic

Fleet Week – June 21: Explore the waterfront and check out ships visiting the harbour.
Dartmouth Open Street Sunday – June 22: Portland Street transforms into a car-free community space filled with music, activities, and local vendors.
Canada Day Celebrations – July 1: Enjoy concerts, community events, and fireworks along the Halifax and Dartmouth waterfronts.
Sullivan’s Pond Concert Series: Free outdoor concerts throughout July and August featuring local musicians and performers.
