About the Virtual EDGE Program
The EDGE Program is designed to support Nova Scotian youth aged 18 to 26 who face barriers to employment by helping them prepare for and successfully enter the workforce. Through targeted pre-employment and employment services, the program equips participants with the skills, confidence, and support needed to pursue and sustain meaningful employment.
How it Works
Delivered entirely online, the Virtual EDGE Program is offered in cohorts throughout the year. Each cohort participates in a series of interactive workshops that build employment readiness, self-confidence, and overall well-being. Over an 11-week period, participants follow a consistent weekly schedule:
20 employment-focused workshops
Tuesdays & Thursdays, 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
10 mental wellness workshops
Wednesdays, 9:00 AM – 12:00 PMBi-weekly individual meetings with a Case Manager
Bi-weekly individual meetings with a Job Developer
Meetings with Mental Health Coordinator upon request (optional)
What to Expect
The employment sessions focus on essential job skills such as:
Resume and cover letter writing
Interview preparation
Digital literacy
Professional networking
Workplace communication
Participants also explore leadership, time management, financial wellness, career development strategies, and more.
The mental wellness workshops support participants in developing emotional awareness, healthy coping strategies, and self-care routines. Topics include:
Understanding mental health
Navigating life stressors
Building routines for wellness
Enhancing personal and professional resilience

Who We Can Help
The EDGE Program is funded by the office of NS Opportunities and Social Development and is open to individuals aged 18–26 who are currently receiving Employment Support and Income Assistance (ESIA) or who may benefit from added support to avoid needing to access ESIA in the future.

Participation in the EDGE Program is completely voluntary and dependent on the participants level of engagement.

11 weeks of workshop and one-on-one support, employment support/job placement, stay in touch – up to 6 month support available post workshops while settling into new employment.
